I ended up not following the order though, although it still worked, so perhaps order is not critical (or at least, wasn't so in my case) These instructions sorted out the same problem (of losing brightness control from the Fn keys) after installing Windows 10 on an older Vaio (VPCCW). Without using the Fn key (next to Windows key), if I hit F11 it was reducing the brightness and F12 was increasing the brightness earlier - as expected However, recently I started to notice an annoying thing with the function keys F11 and F12 for reducing and increasing the brightness respectively. Function key + F5 will decrease the brightness and Function key + F6 will increase light Keyboard keys to change asus laptop brightness For asus laptops the keys combination is Fn + F5 or F6.On most of the Notebooks, tapping F3 and F2 Key will often increase and decrease the screen brightness Open Windows Control Panel, open Windows Mobility Centre and adjust the brightness here.
